Take a lesson with Golf Pro Dave Smith at the Millcreek Golf & Learning Center.
Lessons at the Learning Center
The Learning Center side of the course is built for exactly this: a driving range to work on ball striking, and a short six-hole course where you can take what you just practiced straight out and use it. The course map and scorecard shows what you are working with.
Lessons are taught by Golf Pro Dave Smith. Reach him directly to talk about what you want to work on and to set up a time.
About Dave Smith
Dave Smith has been teaching golf in Erie since 1985, when he turned pro the day after winning the EDGA Amateur. He is a member of the Erie District Golf Association Hall of Fame, with three EDGA major titles as a player, and he has coached nine EDGA major champions and four EDWGA champions along the way. Teaching juniors is the part he says he enjoys most.

Summer group lessons
Group lessons run in the summer season for $140. Groups are a good fit if you are starting out, if you would rather learn alongside other people than one on one, or if you want a set schedule to keep you coming back.
Private lessons
Private lessons are scheduled by appointment. Rates and timing are set with Dave when you call. One on one time makes sense when you have a specific problem to fix, when your schedule is hard to pin down, or when you want the whole hour pointed at your swing.
Before you call
You do not need to know much, but two or three minutes of thinking ahead makes the first call quicker:
- Whether you are looking for group or private lessons
- Roughly what you want to work on, even if that is just "everything, I have never played"
- Which days and times of the week tend to be open for you
- Whether you already own clubs
If you would rather just come out and hit a bucket first, the range is open every day from 9:00 a.m. until dark. Range and course rates are listed on the rate card.
